Game 1: The King of Egypt Says

(This is a version of “Simon Says”.)

Rules

  1. The children stand in a group in front of the teacher.
  2. The teacher must give the children directions i.e “Pat your head.”. If the teachers says ,”The King of Egypt says,” before the direction the children must follow. However, if the teacher simply gives the direction without saying, “The King of Egypt says” the children should not follow.
  3. To make it more tricky the teacher can do an action that is different to the one that is directed. The game can also be sped up to make it more fun.

Game 2: Ive Lost My Brother

Rules

  1. Ask for 1 volunteer and ask the other children to stand in a circle holding hands.
  2. Blindfold the volunteer and ask them to stand in the centre of the circle.
  3. Turn the volunteer around a number of times according to their age. Then ask them to find a particular friend in the circle.
  4. Ask the other children to be quiet but if the target can not be found, ask children to make funny noises to make it easier to be found.

It’s sounds like fun to have such a big family but but Joseph it wasn’t. His older brothers didn’t like him. He was his father’s favorite and they were jealous. Their father gave Joseph a special coat. This made his brothers hate him even more.

One day Joseph went to find his brothers who were looking after the sheep. They had gone a long way from home to find new grass for them to eat.

Joseph was taken far away to Egypt. But Joseph worked hard and soon he was loved by many people there. They loved him so much that they made him a ruler. Then one day, there was a famine and Josephs brother’s came to Egypt to buy food. Who do you think they met there? Yes, Joseph!

Of course Joseph could have been angry with them for treating him so badly but instead do you know what he did? He forgave them. He remembered what they had done but he chose not to be angry and just love them.remembers brothers-2797715__480.png

Ask the children what they would have done if  their friends told them they should go away. Ask if this has ever happened and how it made them feel. Talk about how Joseph forgave his brothers and became friends with them even though they hated him before. Ask the children to close their eyes and think of someone who has hurt them. Pray that God helps the children to forgive this person.

Joseph’s song

To the tune of “London Bridge”

Joseph’s father loved him best,
Loved him best, loved him best.
Joseph’s father loved him best,
Oh, what a family.

All his brothers were so jealous,
Were so jealous, were so jealous.
All his brothers were so jealous,
Oh, what a family.

His brothers threw him in a pit,
In a pit, in a pit.
His brothers threw him in a pit,
Oh, what a family.

Egypt bought him as a slave,
As a slave, as a slave.
Egypt bought him as a slave,
Oh, what a family.

By then Joseph was a mighty man,
Mighty man, mighty man.
By then Joseph was a might man,
Oh, what a family.

His brothers came to him for food,
Him for food, him for food.
His brothers came to him for food,
Oh, what a family.

Joseph forgave and fed them all,
Fed them all, fed them all.
Joseph forgave and fed them all,
Oh, what a family.
